BUNGALOW EXTENSIONS

Creating bungalow extension plans can be challenging simply because we have different ideas as to what a bungalow should look like. Take the older generation for example, they seem to want bungalows that look traditional and with layouts that have stood the test of time.

Large gardens that people can enjoy their retirement working on seem to be very important for some whilst bungalows with garages are really important for others.

I come from Ireland so you could say that I know a bit about bungalows simply because I have spent a while living in one and can see how over time the bungalow has evolved from a traditional simple build to a modern high-tech home for modern families.

In truth, traditional bungalows can look quite nice but when you start to look under the bonnet you discover that most of them are freezing in winter because the majority were built when insulation was not a consideration or incorporated into the build.

Lighting is also a big factor as many were built under insane planning rules which reduced the window size right down to stay in keeping with local agricultural cottages. The end result is cold and dark homes where you always had the fire and light going to provide a modicum of comfort.

However, bungalows are now undergoing a huge revival and younger families have joined the ranks of the elderly in pursuit of a new home.

Only recently I was in Battle, Hastings to create bungalow extension plans for an additional 2 bedrooms in the loft and a large kitchen extension to the rear. This particular bungalow had all the cold and dark elements mentioned earlier but given the extent of the proposed work there would be no doubt we could address the issues of heating and light to turn the bungalow into a really comfortable home.

Once of the many positives that come with detached or semi-detached bungalows is that many were built on a quarter of an acre or more which means that if you really want to enlarge and modernise many of them can accommodate because of the large gardens to the front and rear.

Bungalows are also easy to extend because there is no standard layout to contend with and if you want to extend upwards to add a couple of bedroom it should make a great long-term investment.

At PINK LINES, we can create bungalow extension plans for as little as £795 Plus Vet.
