GARDEN ROOMS

Garden rooms have been all the rage over the past decade but since we entered the covid era the demand has soared. At PINK LINES we get inquiries for garden room plans almost daily and we are happy to oblige.  

In most cases garden rooms plans are fairly straight forwarded as homeowners want to keep the costs down.

Personally, my thoughts are that if I am going to spend £20k or so on a garden room I would want one with a w/c. If we consider possible uses, then an office is high on the list so if I am supposed to work in my garden office all day, I want to be able to make a cup of tea and go to the loo when I feel like it. Thankfully, many of our clients agree so adding a bit of drainage for a w/c is the thing to do.

Most garden room are very similar in that many of them are finished in timber or a cladding of one kind or another. That’s not a bad ideas as you are trying to make the rooms blend in rather than stick out.

Flat roofs tend to be popular, but the more traditional pitch roof can also look really well if designed to suit its environment.

Unlike an extension, a garden office can be sited on Easy Pads which allows you to start building very quickly. If you are doing a custom build rather than buying in a ready built garden office then I recommend that you do a timber frame garden office and try to build your own SIPS type panels if you can and then install like it was a sips instruction project.

The last garden room that I built was about 15 years ago and all we did was to create a base with a waterproof cover and then built the panels that slotted together. The whole thing was built from scratch and completed within 1 week at a cost of about £8k which is considerably cheaper than a ready built job.
